This weekend is the start of the 19th Tokyo International Film Festival. They’ll show a lot of cool movies until next weekend at the Bunkamura in Shibuya and in Roppongi Hills. I’m going to try to catch Flags of our Fathers saturday, the American part of Clint Eastwood’s 2 movies about the Battle of Iwo Jima from each side’s point of view, and The World’s Fastest Indian on sunday.

That, or I might just go see some random foreign movie they’re showing if I can’t get seats for the ones I planned…

Something’s going on in the sky over Saitama. Yesterday morning, in the bus to work, I saw a diamond formation of what looked like 5 C-17 flying very low. And today we heard jets screaming all day over our heads at work.

I don’t know if they raised the state of alertness since North Korea announced they were taking the UN sanctions as a declaration of war, but it sure looks like it.

If this whole situations turns bad (and it’s bound to happen with that crazy midget in Pyongyang), I hope it’ll at least get me a pay raise. A little risk allowance is always welcome…

Apparently, it’s it’s been live for 2 weeks now, but it’s the first time I notice it: Google Maps has been updated for Japan! It’s now much more readable with full-width characters, building elevation, 2 more zoom levels, brighter colors and at last hybrid view.

And the best part, we can now see the underground parts of train stations in light red with the exit numbers. Here is for exemple Shibuya crossing.

Fun Fact: I never noticed, but the sheer number of MacDonalds in Shibuya is scary…

Le matin quand j’arrive sur les coups de 10h, 10h02, je suis comme un fou, je m’eclate! Je bois une cannette de Boss – World Executive Blend parcequ’au fond de moi je suis un winner, et je peux vous dire que la haut, ils apprecient enormement.

Aujourd’hui pendant que je me tournais les pouces en attendant que la migration que j’avais lancé la veille se termine (plus de 17h sur un blade dédié, c’est dur dur), mon collégue Jon m’a introduit à jlptrenshuu.org, un super site pour réviser son vocabulaire pour le JLPT.

C’est de loin le meilleur site de japonais que j’ai vu jusqu’à maintenant. Même si vous ne passez pas le test cette année, c’est super pratique pour rester sharp et se rememorer un peu ces kanjis qu’on oublie si facilement.

Je devrais peut-être créer une rubrique spéciale pour mettre des liens qui rende la vie pratique au Japon…

Le weekend dernier Nat, Stéphane et Benoît sont venus dans mon petit coin de campagne depuis leur megalopole tokyoïte pour voir un peu où je vis toute la semaine.

Après un rapide tour de la ぼたん通り, la grande rue de 東松山 et une visite de mon appartement, nous sommes allés acheter de quoi picniquer au supermarché du coin, puis direction 森林公園. Là nous avons loué des velos et sommes partis faire le tour de ce grand grand parc. Picnic sur l’air à picnic vu qu’il pleuvait (c’est la fin de la saison des pluies ici) et direction le Onsen du coin à 7-8km de là toujours en velo et à travers les rizières.

C’est là qu’on est tombés sur cette scène buccolique d’une vingtaine de pépés dansants et chantants devant un petit temple caché en haut d’une petite colline couverte d’arbre. C’était surement une cérémonie ancestrale pour amener une bonnne récolte aux agriculteurs du coin.
